Ceiling Fan Buying Guide & FAQs
Ceiling Fan Buying Guide & FAQs
How do I choose the right fan size?
Start with room size and ceiling height. Compact 20–24 inch fans suit smaller spaces, 36–52 inch fans are commonly selected for bedrooms and standard rooms, and 60–72 inch fans are designed for larger, open living areas. Always review the product page and installation manual before purchasing.
Should I choose flush mount or downrod installation?
Low-profile or flush-mount fans are typically selected for lower ceilings. Downrod-mounted fans are usually better for taller ceilings because they provide additional clearance from the ceiling. Follow the clearance and mounting requirements in the product manual and local electrical code.
Can a ceiling fan be used outdoors?
Only choose a product specifically described on its product page as suitable for covered outdoor use. Do not expose any ceiling fan to conditions beyond its stated rating.
Do I need an electrician?
If you are not comfortable with electrical installation, do not have a suitable ceiling-rated junction box, or are uncertain about local code requirements, use a licensed electrician.
